Way to Go, Tod
In order to try and save Fallout 76, Bethesda is planning a massive new update that is scheduled to drop in the Fall of this year. The Fall update is going to finally add human NPC’s and factions. Something that should have been in the base game, but better late than never. However, the most important part of this impending update is that a new dialogue system is going to be added that is much similar is Fallout 3’s rather than Fallout 4’s.
This is great news for Bethesda fans. The ones who haven’t entirely given up on this game should be raising an eyebrow or two. This could be a sort of eureka moment over at Bethesda. As the old saying goes, “everyone learns from their mistakes.” Well, it turns out that this might apply to Bethesda as well.
They are perfectly aware of how much people loathed Fallout 76 when it first came out. It lacked just about everything. You could argue that the game was barely finished when it first launched. There were bugs everywhere, no content, PVP was a joke. The whole game was a joke actually.
BUT. It seems as though they might be turning a corner and looking to older games like Fallout 3 for guidance. Bethesda’s choice to totally bypass Fallout 4 goes to show that they are now aware that the fans of the series do not want a watered-down experience of what made the series great. Having meaningful and interesting choices available to the player is what made the previous titles so intriguing. And a big part of having a compelling story is having a good dialogue system.
