Better Late Than Badly Baked
After a long stretch of silence, it seems like that delicious Cuphead DLC has been pushed back to 2020. While this isnโt a colossal shock given how long we waited for the original game, itโs still a sorrowful bit of news. At least thereโs a tiny trailer to tide us over!
Embedded below, the teaser in question gives up split-second glimpses at some of the new bosses en route. Both of them are very chilly in nature, or is that a heaping helping of salt? A shortcut to suffering, either way. Beyond this brief teaser, Studio MDHR also released a statement about the delay:
While we initially announced a 2019 release date for the โDelicious Last Courseโ expansion, our highest priority is making sure this new adventure meets the meticulous level of care and quality we always strive for. We want to be absolutely certain that this next adventure feels at home in the world of โCupheadโ and is full of moments that surprise and delight players. Furthermore, the development of the original game taught us a great deal about the importance of making things in a way thatโs healthy and sustainable for our team.
With that in mind, weโre taking a page out of Chef Saltbakerโs book, and spending the necessary time to get the recipe just right โ this means that weโll be moving the release of โThe Delicious Last Courseโ to 2020. This wasnโt an easy decision to make, but weโre confident itโs one that will result in a higher quality experience thatโs all the sweeter when it does arrive.
Meaning, maybe those long development cycles are good for your staff after all? If patience and care are whatโs needed to make a game like Cuphead, then take all the time you need. The Delicious Last Course is set for release on PC, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch sometime next year.
