August’s Games With Gold Picks Have Been Revealed
Next month’s Games With Gold lineup was recently revealed and one of the games that got picked was Gears of War 4. Since Gears 5 launches in September, this is the perfect opportunity for newcomers to catch up to the story of the fourth game (which was something of a soft reboot for the series).
Here’s the whole lineup:
- Gears of War 4 (August 1st to August 31st)
- Forza Motorsport 6 (August 16th to September 15th)
- Torchlight (August 1st to August 15th)
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (August 16th to August 31st)
Speaking of Gears 5, we recently posted an article that brought up some concerns about that upcoming game’s singleplayer campaign. The article’s author wrote that they were worried about the campaign turning out to be underwhelming.
“So really, I’m worried Gears 5 is going to boil down to being another one of those,” they wrote. “The kind of campaign with big themes that aren’t really explored, and level design that’s repetitive and uninspired. Where some stuff happens and things explode between A and B and you don’t recall the details. Where the actual act of playing the game just sort of happens.”
