A New PS4 Beta Test Is Only Available for Residents in the U.S. and Canada
Sony has a new beta test that PS4 owners in the United States and Canada can register for. New Party features such as improved voice chat audio quality and increased party size can be tested.
If you’re picked for the beta test then these new features will become available, according to the PlayStation Blog:
- Increased maximum Party participants from 8 to 16
- Improved audio quality for voice chat
- Improved network connectivity
Additionally, PlayStation social media director Sid Shuman said on Tuesday that test participants “won’t be able to join the same Party or use Share Play with others who aren’t participating in the program.”
“However, the preview code we’ll be providing can be redeemed by 20 different qualifying accounts, so share the code with your friends and try out the new Party updates together!” Shuman said. “Once you participate in the Preview Program, Parties that you’re able to join will have an asterisk (*) in front of the Party name.”
Also, according to Shuman, the chat transcription feature for the console’s Second Screen app will allow users to transcribe Party voice chat or convert text to audio for the Party. However, this part of the beta test is only available in English and for U.S. residents only.
