New Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Gameplay Shows One of Its Open-Ended Levels

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Releases on November 15th

A new extended cut of the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay demo that was shown earlier this month showcased more of the game’s platforming and exploration. Check it out in the video posted below!

The game’s developers at Respawn Entertainment have described this upcoming Star Wars game as a “Metroidvania” game where players are expected to explore open-ended environments and backtrack through levels once they’ve gained new abilities or items.

Some of that open-ended level design can be seen in the new gameplay video when the protagonist, Jedi apprentice Cal Kestis, goes off the beaten path, enters a cave, and fights a giant spider monster (y’know the usual Star Wars stuff). The video also showed the game’s dialogue system when Cal spoke to his Jedi teacher, Cere.

According to Fallen Order’s game director Stig Asmussen, the game has “several planets that the player can elect to travel to via starship.”

“On these worlds unique abilities and upgrades can be found that open up new paths across other planets, making retraversal an essential part of the gameplay experience,” Asmussen wrote in an official news post.
