Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap Launches May 30th on iOS/Android
2017’s gorgeous remake Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is leaping to iOS and Android devices on May 30th, it was announced.
Nothing will be lost in the translation either. The mobile port will offer the “full premium experience of one of this generation’s most warmly received remakes by fans and critics alike.” Controls, of course, have been adjusted for touch screens.
While developer Lizardcube handled the PC and console versions in 2017, Playdigious is taking the reigns and optimizing the mobile version to look as beautiful as possible on our pocket screens, including the iPhone X.
Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is an incredible update of the 1989 Sega Master System cult-classic, Wonder Boy III. While much its exploration-based platforming remains unchanged from the original, the stunning new visuals and re-imagined music keep it fresh for today’s audience.
Anyone who pre-registers for the game on the Google Play Store will be notified via email to receive a 30% discount when the game launches on May 30th. Not too bad of a deal!
Here’s what we said about the game in our review posted in 2017:
“Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap is a game for Metroidvania fans. If you’re the kind of fan who wants genre innovation, and modern mechanics, you might want to steer clear. If you’re the kind of fan who still plugs in their Nintendo and likes to see what the origins of modern games look like, then pick this up. And if you’re a fan of the original, then you’ll find this remaster to be everything you could want: beautiful and smooth.”
