It’s a Done Deal Game of Thrones Creators To Make Next Star Wars Movie

Dan & Dave Will Be In Charge of New Star Wars Movies

Bob Iger, Chairman of Walt Disney Company has just announced that the next Star Wars film taking place after The Rise of Skywalker will be written by the infamous David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are best known for their work on HBO’s Game of Thrones. However, the Star Wars series which they will be running is not scheduled to release until 2022 and will wrap up 2026. This news broke at a MoffetNathanson Media & Communications conference today.

As Game of Thrones wraps up its final and very controversial season, it will be interesting to see how this movie will be perceived by the public. D&D used to be hailed as literary geniuses by most only a few years ago. But with the last few seasons of Game of Thrones being heavily criticized and ridiculed, their once prestigious public image has taken a hit.

The recent Star Wars movies have not been exempt from harsh criticism either. The Last Jedi, for instance, has a ghastly 44% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Solo: A Star Wars Story only boasts a lackluster 64% audience rating as well. This is definitely a bold move by Disney to bring on such polarizing figures as Benioff and Weiss to a franchise that has been struggling to please its fans as of late.

The movies will undoubtedly make an absurd amount of money. But will it be able to reign in uninterested and disillusioned fans?

What do you guys think? Is this the right call by Disney? Are D&D the right choice to direct Star Wars? Be sure to let us know in the comments as well as on Twitter and Instagram.
