EA Expects Its Next Major Star Wars Game to Sell Big
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will have some big expectations to meet as it approaches its November 15th launch, especially when it comes to sales figures. According to a transcript for an EA earnings call that was conducted on Tuesday, the games publisher expects sales to be in the “range of 6 million to 8 million units.”
Ever since a ten-year Star Wars license exclusivity deal between EA and Disney was agreed upon in 2013, EA’s major Star Wars output has mostly had mixed results with two underwhelming Battlefront games that launched in 2014 and 2017, respectively. Despite this and the reported cancellation of another Star Wars game, EA said in January that it was still “fully committed” to making more Star Wars games while Disney has expressed satisfaction with how EA has been handling the license.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is about a young runaway Jedi apprentice named Cal Kestis. Cal is on the run after the leader of the galaxy’s republic, Palpatine, brands the Jedi Order as traitors and orders the mass extermination of all Jedi. As Cal, players will have to hone both their Force powers and lightsaber skills in order to fight Palpatine’s forces and rebuild the Order.
