EA Access Pricing: $4.99/month or $29.99/year
Electronic Arts’ subscription service, EA Access, is making its way to PS4 players this July, the company has announced.
The service — where subscribers have access to a huge library of EA games, 10-hour early access trials, and a 10% discount on EA purchases — will remain the same price on PS4 as it is on Xbox One. A monthly subscription will cost $4.99 while a yearly subscription is $29.99.
“As we continue to invest in digital and subscription services, bringing our games to even more people across both consoles is an exciting opportunity for everyone,” said Matt Bilbey, Executive VP of Strategic Growth. “Our goal is to give players more choice to try and play our games wherever and however they choose and we’re happy to bring the service to PlayStation 4.”
Currently, EA Access members have access to more than 50 games in “the Vault.” This includes games like Star Wars: Battlefront II, Battlefield 1, Burnout Paradise Remastered, The Sims 4, plus old and new sports games in their Madden, NBA, and NHL franchises. Thanks to backwards compatibility on Xbox One, there is also a selection of Xbox 360 games too.
EA did not confirm what titles are coming to the Vault on PS4 but it will presumably have a smaller list compared to Xbox One due to the fact that the PS4 can’t play PS3 games.
EA Access launched first on Xbox One back in 2014 then expanded to PC with new names: Origin Access and Origin Access Premier. In 2014, when asked if the service would ever make the jump to PS4, Sony said the service “does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect” and that “we don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.”
A lot can happen in five years.
