Online Compatability Will Definitely be a Feature for PlayStation 5
All PlayStation 4 owners just let out a sigh of relief. Backward compatibility will be available for online play between the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. We don’t know a lot about the new console that Sony is working on right now. All we know is that a new console is coming. The PlayStation 4’s days are numbered. A new console has been a long time coming. Both the PS4 and Xbox One are starting to show their age.
John Kadera, the deputy president of PlayStation broke the news. This cross-console compatibility is great for everyone. There is no reason to believe that the newest Sony console is going to be cheap. Transitioning from the PS4 to the PS5 will largely be an issue of money. But this feature will ease that problem significantly.
The ability to still play with friends that are still using their PS4’s is a great selling point for Sony. Those who are able to buy the newest console can do so without missing out on good times with their buddies.
How deep this backward compatibility goes is unknown as of now. But the future seems bright. The Xbox One has a similar feature which allowed backward compatibility for Xbox 360 games. However, that system was not perfect. There were a ton of games that were just never made backward compatible.
Rumors have been floating around that Sony is aiming to release its next console in 2020. If these rumors are true then that means that we are more than likely going to see an unveiling of some sort sooner than later. Possibly at PSX 2019.
What do you think? Is this a feature you are excited about? Be sure to let us know in the comments as well as on Twitter and Instagram.
