Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Will Not Have a Zombies Mode
Just yesterday the big reveal trailer dropped for the latest installment of the Call of Duty Franchise: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Since then, Activision has released some brand new information about the game, and while we know that the game will have a campaign and cross-play capabilities, it’s now also been confirmed that zombies will not be making an appearance this time around.
In a recent interview with PlayStation Lifestyle Infinity Ward’s Campaign Gameplay Director Jacob Minkoff recently sounded off on why Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be without a zombies game mode. According to Minkoff, they wanted the experience to feel realistic and cohesive. He stated that while Treyarch can pull off a more flexible and creative experience within their games, with zombies as a big example in Black Ops 4, Infinity Ward is going for a more authentic experience for fans.
Here’s what he had to say when comparing the two different styles, “Because they focus on more of the stylized, graphic novel, super-hero experience, they can have the much more ‘out there’ different types of gameplay in their games. But for us, we’re trying to create an authentic, realistic feeling world. We don’t have the flexibility to do something like put zombies in the game. That would compromise the feeling of playing in a world that feels realistic and authentic and relative to today’s conflicts and things we face.”
Of course while many are sure to be disappointed to find zombies missing from the upcoming Call of Duty, there’s sure to be plenty of more information on the way, with E3 just around the corner, and a few months until release. Fingers crossed Infinity Ward will announce something new and exciting between now and then.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25th for PS4, Xbox One, or PC. What do you think about zombies getting nixed from the upcoming COD title? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to keep it locked for updates!
