Mortal Kombat 11 TV Spot Is Sans Blood and Gore

We Also See the Return of a Classic Character

Most of the Mortal Kombat 11 trailers we have seen so far have shown off the gory and violent acts of our favourite characters. That’s because they have all been on the internet and the people who seek them out know what they are in for. For the Mortal Kombat 11 TV spot, they had to tone it down just a bit. That means no blood, guts, broken bones, dismemberment, impaling, bullet holes, none of the fun stuff. However, we do see a couple of classic characters take each other on.

Mortal Kombat 11 TV Spot

The trailer opens with Scorpion and his cracked mask. Some dude approaches him in a warehouse. The dude is you, the player, an everyman. As the dude gets closer, he exhibits qualities of Mortal Kombat characters like Sub-Zero and Raiden. He also changes appearances to another man and a woman, because Mortal Kombat is for everybody, right? The woman then whips out two bladed-fans and transforms into Kitana. Kitana died in Mortal Kombat (2011), but it appears that she is making a return in one way or another. Kitana and Scorpion fight, no one dies.

Obviously, since this is a TV spot, they had to cut out the extreme violence, to appeal to a wider audience. With the inclusion of the “player” in this trailer, it’s also being treated as an actual commercial for a game. Mortal Kombat 11 comes out on April 23rd on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
