Producer Calls Dying Light 2 The First Of Its Kind

A Whole New Open World

Dying Light did good work with the whole ‘open world’ concept, giving you a sandbox that actually responded to your actions. From the sounds of things, it seems like Dying Light 2 will be building on this concept in a big way. The game’s producer, Kornel Jaskula, recently opened up about the game:

Dying Light 2

We believe that Dying Light 2 is the first game of its type. It’s going to be a game where your choices will have genuine consequences, from how the world looks, to how the game plays, to the events that occur throughout the story. This is an open-world game where you should treat the narrative as a gameplay mechanic.

In other words, the sequel to Dying Light will be cranking up this open world business to 11. The producer compared it to having a bunch of Lego bricks with no instruction manual. Yes, you’re eventually building a house, but how this happens is entirely up to you. These are big, bold claims, but their veracity remains to be seen. The first game felt quite a bit like this, after all. Although even if the sequel merely builds on those existing foundations, it will still be an excellent time. Dying Light 2 is coming out for PC, PS4 and the Xbox One sometime this year, probably.
