The more that’s revealed about the Octopath Prequel, the more like a Real Game it appears. The newest bit of information covers the various paths you can take when completing the game. So far, there’s three of them! Not quite ‘Octo’ yet, but a very good start.
In this case, you’re choosing your antagonist. There’s The Witch of Greed, The Hero, and The Playwright. Although it’s implied that you can take on all three of them in a single playthrough. The three villains represent Power, Wealth and Glory. There’s also been a translation of the story pitch making the rounds:

Between the story setup and the mechanics, this is shaping up to be a proper Octopath game. The creators have stated that Octopath Traveler: Champions of The Continent will be followed by a proper sequel on consoles. There’s no set release date here in the West, but you’d best believe I’ll keep you up to date on that.
