Spanish Newspaper Accidentally Reports on Fake ‘Pokemon Gun’

Fake Pokemon Gun Announcement Fools Local Newspaper

Not long after Nintendo announced Pokemon Sword and Shield, a Twitter user made a joke about a third game –Pokemon Gun — coming out alongside a pretty convincing and funny logo. While it’s an obvious joke for most people, it appears that some people didn’t get the joke.

Pokémon Sword

As picked up by another Twitter user, Spanish newspaper La Voz de Michoacán accidentally printed logos for Sword, Shield, and Gun when reporting on the announcements of the new games. Oopsies!

The good news is that the full article doesn’t actually mention the existence of Gun, so this might just be a case of someone not doing their due diligence when browsing for photos online. To be fair, the image — which was made by another Twitter user named Sir5000 — is a pretty good fake. Looking closely, it even has the exact same style and fonts as the other two logos.

The newspaper has yet to comment on the slip-up, but no serious damage seems to have been done. In any case, it’s always funny when newspapers make a mistake like this.

Pokemon Sword and Shield will launch on Switch late 2019.
