The Sims 4 Player Base Grew By Nearly 5 Million Unique Players in 2018
The Sims 4 has managed to surpass more than $1 billion in lifetime revenue, according to prepared remarks from a Tuesday EA conference call.
“Our Sims franchise continues to thrive in live services – our Sims 4 community grew by 4.8 million unique players last year, our monthly active players continue to grow year-over-year, and we just crossed $1 billion in lifetime revenue for the game,” the prepared conference call statement for EA CEO Andrew Wilson read.
“We continue to have strong expectations for The Sims going forward, and in FY20 we’re bringing at least 20 new content drops and expansion packs to our Sims games across PC, mobile and console,” the statement continued.
The Sims 4 launched on the PC in 2014 and came out on the PS4 & Xbox One in 2017. It currently has six major expansion packs with the most recent release being titled “The Sims 4: Get Famous”. We reviewed Get Famous last November and gave it a score of 80 out of 100.
“Overall, this expansion pack is solid and entertaining, and while $39.99 still seems like a high price to charge for DLC, it is pretty much worth it for any player who sees themselves using the fame system often,” the review’s author wrote.
