Celebrate Pokemon Day in GO With More Kanto Pandering

Celebrate Pokemon Day with a Shiny Pidgey. Yes, Really.

The Pokemon franchise turns 23 tomorrow and what better way to celebrate than with Kanto pandering making a return to one of the world’s most popular mobile games.

The event has already kicked off and is running until Thursday, February 28th at 1pm PST/4pm EST, and features a few bonuses for players looking to celebrate the series in the cold outdoors:

  • Pokémon that Trainers encounter early on in their adventures through the Kanto region will appear more frequently in the wild!
  • Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will be available to challenge in raids.
  • Pikachu and Eevee wearing flower crowns will make a special appearance as Field Research encounters and in the wild.
  • In celebration of Pokémon Day, you may even encounter Shiny Pidgey and Shiny Rattata!

Wow, Shiny Rattata AND Pidgey? I feel so enticed. Also I think we’re running out of fun headwear for Pikachu to wear, Niantic is gonna have to start getting creative with the little duder’s accessories. I feel like we’re on the verge of a New Era caps crossover any second now.

Don’t forget to get up early for tomorrow’s Pokemon Direct which is pretty much guaranteed to show off the new mainline series entry for the Switch, and keep it locked to COGconnected for all the coverage coming out of that tomorrow!
