When You Walkman Away – Kingdom Hearts III Gets Sony Collaboration

Two Worlds Collide

After waiting 13 years for the launch of Kingdom Hearts III, the hype train doesn’t slow down. The game is getting a special Sony Collaboration Walkman and Wireless headphones.

The limited edition Sony Walkman A Series comes with 16GB of storage space, but can be expanded up to 144GB using a microSD card. It’ll have tracks preloaded onto it at the time of purchase – “Face My Fears(Japanese Version)” by Utada Hikaru and Skrillex  as well as “Chikai”, also by Utada Hikaru.

There’s also the Kingdom Hearts III edition h.ear 2 mini wireless headphones – beyond the special Kingdom Hearts pattern, it doesn’t sound like there’s anything additionally special about the headphones.

Both items are currently available for pre-order through Sony’s Japanese website. The Walkman will run you 28,880JPY (About 350CAD) before tax, and the Headphones are sitting pretty at 24,880JPY(300CAD) before tax. Those prices also don’t include shipping.

I’m not quite sure if this particular collaboration makes sense, but Kingdom Hearts fans are certainly riding high right now. Big brand name collaborations are big and frequent in Japan across all sorts of different companies – personally my recent favourite is the Sanrio x Splatoon collab, which has pastel coloured Pearl and Marina plushies!

If you could have any two companies collaborate, who would they be? Let us know!
