Devil May Come to Switch
Smash Bros. and Devil May Cry fans have both been demanding the inclusion of everyone’s favorite demon hunter for quite a while, and the series director has an idea as to how to make that happen.
In an interview with VG247, Hideaki Itsuno (who took over the series starting with Devil May Cry 2) mentioned that all the characters in Smash “at least have some game on a Nintendo platform,” noting Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy 7 being representative of the series’ Nintendo roots.
“Well, that’s the thing,” Itsuno says, “Devil May Cry has never been on a Nintendo platform. So it seems like the first thing to do would be to get Capcom to put Devil May Cry on a Nintendo platform in some way, shape or form – whatever game that might be.” In person, he followed this up with “Tell her!” pointing to the Capcom UK rep with the clearance to send requests for such a project to the people in charge of such decisions.
It’s interesting that the series hasn’t already come to the Switch, seeing as just about everything else under the sun has made it’s way, or is on the way, to Nintendo’s hybrid console, including Capcom’s own Dragon’s Dogma. I’m pretty confident if we can get a Switch port of Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy, anything is possible.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently available for Nintendo Switch, and Devil May Cry 5 is dropping this coming March 8th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Let us know what you’d like to see from the DMC series on the Switch!
