Pokemon Developer’s PC Game, Giga Wrecker, Is Coming to Consoles

Pokemon’s Developer Is Branching Out

Back in 2017, Pokemon developer Game Freak released a Steam platformer. Now, the game is set to hit PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch sometime in 2019 under the moniker Giga Wrecker Alt. In addition, the game will include extra content and console-exclusive features.

Giga Wrecker Alt will feature 20 new puzzle stages, a new companion character “to assist players with the game’s increasingly challenging puzzles,” and an Iron Man mode for players that want a higher challenge.

Giga Wrecker is a 2D platformer that follows a girl named Reika who can manipulate debris in order to explore the world around her. Although it’s a departure from Pokemon, the game was met with positive reception.

Check out the trailer and description of the game below.

“Giga Wrecker Alt. is a mixture of exploration and physics. Bring down towering walls and then use the rubble as a platform for navigating each level. Mechanical skill and creative problem solving will be tested.”

“Giga Wrecker was brought to life through Game Freak’s internal ‘Gear Project’ where its developers are encouraged to come up with intriguing ideas for games outside the company’s normal. The game also features music by video game composer, Shinij Hosoe, known for Ridge Racer and Tekken, among many other titles.”
