Metacritic Drops Their Ten Worst Games of 2018

A Garbage Fire From Top to Bottom

As we come upon the end of the year, the lists begin their descent from the skies. Best games, biggest sales, genre contenders and massive blunders all get their due in listicle form. True to the spirit of list season, Metacritic has released a list of the ten worst games, according to their own score aggregate system. The results will almost certainly not surprise you.

Agony

Number one on this list is The Quiet Man, beating out a few games so bad I’d never even heard of them until now. That’s actually rather impressive. Sadly, this marks a low point for Square Enix, a company usually famous for good games. Or at least decent ones. Everything we saw of Quiet Man suggested it would be baffling and awful, with the reviews doing nothing to dissuade this notion.

The rest of the list is full of similar gems. Super Seducer gets a nod, along with Agony, Past Cure and Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn. Interestingly enough, it seems like a lot of these entries were loaded with hype up until their release. Rather, these were all games that showed some measure of promise before reality kicked us all in the collective pants. Except for The Quiet Man, which we were pretty sure was going to suck.
