You Never Forget Your First
In a recent interview with Noisey, pro skater and franchise figurehead Tony Hawk ranks every soundtrack for all of his games. Surprising no one is the very first game taking the very top spot, but what’s the rest of the list look like? You can check it out below:
.Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater
.Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland
.Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4
.Tony Hawk’s Underground
.Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
.Tony Hawk’s Underground 2
.Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground
.Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3
.Tony Hawk’s Project 8
.Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam
.Tony Hawk: Ride
.Tony Hawk: Shred
.Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5
According to Hawk, budget limitations led to the most recent game having the least memorable soundtrack. Apparently a lot of the songs were put on there as favors to friends. Conversely, the very first game was loaded with premium tracks that even Tony didn’t think would make the cut. Who would expect a Dead Kennedys track about committing horrible crimes using a police car to make it into a skateboarding game? Other standout entries include Primus and Suicidal Tendencies. As a kid, the music in these games was one of the highlights of playing them. That, and the zen calm that came with slowly improving your skills to the sound of wheels on concrete.
