According to the official blog post, Xbox One X owners with a 4K TV can now play the addictive online sports game in native 4K and 60 frames per second with HDR. Supersampling is also enabled, which means 1080p owners can still benefit with a cleaner and sharper image. Game Director Scott Rudi and Graphics Engineer Art Mata goes into more detail about what these enhancements mean to Rocket League over at Xbox Wire.

Here’s what else is coming in next month’s update:

  • Enhanced Xbox One X Support – The game on Xbox One X can be displayed in native 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, complete with HDR (high dynamic range). For more information, please read the latest blog post HERE
  • Rocket League x Monstercat Vol. 5 – The fifth and final Monstercat playlist of the year will feature tracks from various Monstercat Instinct artists
  • New Community Flags – Speedy, Extra Life, and additional Monstercat artist Flags
  • Various Quality of Life Improvements

The December Update will also be rolling out to the other platforms too around the same time pending first party certifications.

In related Rocket League news, PS4 cross-play looks to be in the works and should be arriving soon. “I want everyone to understand just how much of a priority this is for us and always has been for our team,” said Psyonix CEO Dave Hangwood. “There are still many factors, some of which take time, that means we have to have some patience. I am excited beyond words and I wanted to make sure that our players know where we stand. I can’t wait to see our vision for a truly unified Rocket League community finally realized.”
