PlayStation 5 Will Be Revealed Next Year, According to Accurate Leaker

Would Explain Why Sony Is Skipping E3

It looks like the PlayStation 5 is on the horizon, especially when we consider a number of factors. One leaker reported that Sony’s new console shall be revealed in the middle of next year, and their track record gives us reason to believe.

One Reddit user by the name of RuthenicCookie reported that Sony would not hold an E3 2019 press conference, hours before the official announcement. Down the line, the user brought something of an explanation for why the company has left the expo. Apparently, the brass is bracing for the reveal of the PS5.

Take it with a grain of salt. Nothing is confirmed until it is confirmed. However, an impending PS5 announcement would explain why Sony has opted out of PSX 2018 and E3 2019. It’s not in PlayStation’s best interest to announce new projects or broadcast the same PS4 exclusives we’ve already seen, not when the next generation of console is near. The same leaker claimed that PSX would return for 2019 and would serve as the focal point for a new console announcement. A small tease in the middle of the year—if not something similar—would precede the grand PSX reveal.

The rumor is peripherally supported by journalist Jason Schreier from Kotaku, who wrote, “Sony will skip E3 this year, a massive blow to the trade show and yet another sign that, as I’ve heard from pretty much every developer I’ve asked about this, the PS5 is planned for 2020.”
