Crackdown 3 Now Has a Real Release Date, Alongside Some Surprises

For Real This Time

Over at X018, Microsoft has taken a plunge five years in the making and has announced the release date for Crackdown 3. The game by Sumo Digital will officially  launch on February 15, 2019,

Crackdown 3 E3

The release date comes alongside a gift for both players on the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One. From now until November 30, anybody can download the original Crackdown for free. That’s the 360 version and the enhanced version available through Xbox Backward Compatibility. If you’re a big fan of the original or have yet to experience the series, there’s never been a better time to start.

As for Crackdown 3, the game will be available for Xbox One and PC when it arrives next Spring. Moreover, it shall come with Xbox Play Anywhere – If you purchase a copy, you’ll have access to console and Windows versions. The same accessibility will be afforded to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on day one. Exactly as it sounds, you’ll have unrestricted access to Crackdown 3 if you’re paying the monthly fee for Microsoft’s exclusive library of games.

Last but not least, Microsoft released yet another trailer starring Terry Crews as Commander Jackson… and himself. Alongside a caricature of the game’s main character, the footage gave us a better glimpse of Crackdown 3’s multiplayer mode, “Wrecking Zone.” In this mode, players compete in a 5v5 playground that utilizes Microsoft’s cloud computing platform, Azure. Essentially, it’s a PvP arena set in a destructible city.

Four years since the reveal of Crackdown 3 at E3 2013, news of this most recent release date may actually ring true. After suffering innumerable delays, the game may have witnessed more E3s than any other on record. Hopefully, fans will find it worth the wait. Check back for additional updates as time goes by, and hope that we’ve seen our last delay.

Happy gaming.
