Xbox Updates The Avatar System In Today’s Update
The October 2018 Xbox One update drops today and delivers those fancy new avatars revealed back at E3 2017, along with the recently announced smart-assistant support.
The new avatar system sports a strong focus on inclusivity and customization with a whole new range of skin tones, body types and facial features available to players, alongside a new Avatar Store updated with new clothes and props monthly. The new avatars are completely optional as well, so fans can stick with their current avatar if they so choose and customize them in a dedicated Xbox Original Avatars app.
Additionally, the new Xbox Skill enabling Cortana and Alexa smart assistant compatibility is included in the new update, allowing users to toggle their consoles power, launch games, and take screenshots with voice commands. The Skill can be found in the Alexa and Cortana Skill stores but is currently only available in the United States. A release date for support in other regions has yet to be announced.
The new update also includes the recently announced Dolby Vision support.
