200 Goombas Worth Of Ground Pounding
Super Mario Odyssey has been out for about a year now, and that means people are running out of things to do in the game. Inevitably, this always leads to new avenues being explored for entertainment. Goomba stacking, for example. Or hacking. Sometimes both!
A player/developer/dissector known online as Skelux released a video showing off a 200-Goomba-tall stack. According to the video, 200 is the absolute most amount of Goombas you can involve before the Switch immediately crashes. Indeed, you can see the system start lagging like crazy after the tower collapses for the first time.
Eventually, viewers are treated to an impossibly huge ground pound sequence, one involving most of the aforementioned Goomba stack. See, it’s stuff like this that makes the hacking and modding community so great. If you give players a little room to run around in, they’ll quickly start tinkering with the upper limits of the system. Not to do anything nefarious (most of the time), but just to goof around. Sadly, you need to take some extreme measures in order to do this kind of tinkering in Super Mario Odyssey. One of those don’t try this at home situations, you might say.
