Kingdom Hearts 3 Rumor Suggests Potential Switch Release

Kingdom Hearts 3 Might Be Coming to Switch

A new rumor making its way through the gaming community suggests that Square Enix is interested in bringing Kingdom Hearts 3 to the Nintendo Switch. As the fastest selling console in U.S. history, it’s not too crazy to think that the developer would be considering a Switch release, especially with the planned launch of an updated version in the summer of 2019. But the rumor is still unsubstantiated and stems from YouTube user DreamcastGuy, who claims to have the information from an “anonymous source.”

“This morning I got an exclusive leak from a friend close to Square-Enix,” he said. “It seems that they are super interested in bringing Kingdom Hearts and the HD Collections over to the Nintendo Switch but they want to make sure they will sell big numbers!”

Nintendo has a reputation for its family-friendly focus thanks to its popular franchises like Legend of Zelda and Mario, so a Disney-themed RPG would be right at home on the Switch. But the biggest hurdle would be the hardware, which is not as powerful as that of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And as of now, Kingdom Hearts 3 looks to be pushing these powerful consoles to their limits.

Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to release on January 25, 2019.
