Save The World Not Free to Play This Year
Although Fortnite is best known for its massive Battle Royale mode, the game actually has a campaign that you can like, pay for. If this sounds like madness, you’re not alone. The team at Epic Games has been working on a free to play version of this mode for a while, but it looks like we won’t see it until next year.
To be clear, the Save the World branch of the game is up and running, it’s just paid content at the present. Anyone who buys this version of the game can dig into it right now. In fact, Epic is enticing players into doing just that by offering Brainiac Jonesy and Skull Ranger Ramirez to anyone who logs in during the Fortnitemares event.
Maybe it’s not the world-shaking phenomenon that Battle Royale has become, but it looks like there’s still a heaping helping of content to chew up in the campaign mode. There’s tons of quests to play through, a Hero System to max out and upgrade, and tons of heroes to unlock. I feel a little sad even typing all of that, since I can’t think of anyone at all who plays the campaign mode, but it still looks rad. Expect to see some more news about the Free to Play launch soon.
