Adi Shankar Will Make an Official Announcement on November 16th
If recent reports are to be believed, Adi Shankar — the executive producer on the Castlevania Netflix series — will adapt Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda franchise into a television series.
Yesterday, Shankar posted on his Instagram the following message teasing the possibility:
“I can confirm that I’m working with an iconic Japanese gaming company to adapt one of their iconic video game series into a series.”
The message was then corroborated by The Wrap, who has learned exclusively that the new series will, in fact, be based on The Legend of Zelda. Shankar went on to say he will officially make a reveal on November 16th at 1 PM. “Thank you for following me on this journey,” Shankar says on his Instagram post. “Entertaining you guys continues to be a privilege.”
Shankar is, of course, a big part of why Netflix’s animated Castlevania series is so good. Season 2 was released on Friday, October 26th where it has been gaining rave reviews. Season 1, while short, was also widely enjoyed by fans and viewers alike. A third season is already on the way. Shankar is also known for being a producer on Joseph Kahn’s “Bodied,” starring in “Get the Girl,” and an executive producing on “Lone Survivor.”
Shankar is also supposedly still working on making an anime based on Assassin’s Creed. The Wrap is stating that has turned into a TV movie rather than a traditional TV series.
A new Legend of Zelda TV series has been something of a pipe dream for Nintendo fans. If this proves to be accurate, Adi Shankar seems to be the man capable of doing the series justice.
