The Online Service Will Have a Free Trial
The Nintendo Switch Online service will launch on September 18th, announced Nintendo on Wednesday. The online service will cost $19.99 a year for individuals while a yearlong family membership costs $34.99.
A seven-day free trial will be available at launch via the Nintendo eShop, according to the game company.
With Nintendo Switch Online, subscribers will be able to play with each other in competitive games such as Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Tennis Aces, and ARMS.
They’ll also be able to play 20 classic NES games that all come with online play and “more games will be added regularly.” Here’s a partial list of games that will be available at launch:
- Soccer
- Tennis
- Donkey Kong
- Mario Bros.
- Super Mario Bros.
- Balloon Fight
- Ice Climber
- Dr. Mario
- The Legend of Zelda
- Super Mario Bros. 3
The online service will also have cloud saving and its own smartphone app. More info on cloud saving could be revealed during tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct stream.
When it comes to Switch users who have a Nintendo Account, those users won’t be charged automatically once the service starts next week. Also, if you don’t subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online then online features such as the eShop won’t be affected, according to an official FAQ.
