Black Ops 4 Leveling System for Blackout Will Be “Very Different” Than for Multiplayer

Treyarch Details Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Leveling System for Blackout

With the recent announcement that the PS4 exclusivity window has been reduced to just a week and that there will be an onslaught of free post-launch content Treyarch continues to prove  that Black Ops 4 will be a very different Call of Duty experience than any previous game in the series. Now, David Vonderhaar, the Game Design Director for the upcoming title continues the trend and details what fans can expect from the Blackout leveling system.

Black Ops 4 is already vastly different than all previous COD titles with it’s removal of a typical campaign and the addition of the battle royale mode Blackout to name but a couple of huge changes. Following the beta for Blackout the past couple of weekends, Treyarch’s David Vonderhaar sat down with Game Informer and shared some details about the Blackout max rank level and how the leveling system is “very different” from the one found in multiplayer.

According to the video, the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Blackout max rank will be set at 80, and at the time of writing Treyarch has no plans of letting players prestige. Despite this, Vonderhaar says that while players cannot prestige, there will be a “grandaddy of prizes” available upon reaching level 80. So how will you be able to rank up and get those prizes? According to Vonderhaar the leveling system will be “very different” than standard multiplayer. Earning XP is entirely dependent on getting kills and how far you make it in matches (first eliminated vs. last). It’s safe to assume that if you get a lot of kills and keep winning matches that you will rank up much faster than someone who doesn’t. All of this information begins around the 27:00 mark in the video, so if you’d like to hear the full thing, you can check it out here.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will launch on October 12th for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. What do you think about this leveling and ranking system for Blackout? Are you glad to see that it will working differently than the standard multiplayer? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below and don’t forget to keep it locked for updates!
