Someone Tweeted Too Early
In another now-deleted tweet, Boom! Studios founder Andrew Cosby announced that he’s in talks to be the show-runner for an animated Diablo Netflix series. Details are appropriately scarce, but how awesome would that be? Given Netflix’s success with the animated Castlevania series, the Diablo franchise could have a good home with the streaming service.
The tweet in question went as follows: “I guess I can confirm I am indeed in final talks to write and show-run the new Diablo animated series for Activision and Netflix. It’s very exciting and I hope to the High Heavens it all works out.” Super exciting indeed, if a tiny bit premature.
Fingers crossed all around that we get an official announcement soon. Netflix did awesome work with Castlevania, so it stands to reason that a Diablo story done in that style could look totally amazing as well. The only question is which Diablo story would be told. The first game has a terrific story, though the end is little bleak. Successive entries feature more transparent protagonists in a richer, well-developed world. The point is, I really want to see more stories told in the Diablo universe. More news on this can’t come soon enough.
