The Latest ‘The Sinking City’ Trailer Shows the Importance of Regularly Shaving

The Open-World Detective Game Launches Later This Year

A new gameplay trailer for The Sinking City, an open-world game about a detective investigating a mysterious city, features dramatic camerawork, face tentacles and lots of shaving. Go ahead and check out the trailer below!

Set in the 1920s, players take control of Charles W. Reed, a private investigator who’s snooping around the fictional New England city of Oakmont, Massachusetts. Oakmont has many off-putting residents (who are definitely not part of a cult that worships an ancient tentacle god or anything) and has suffered through several massive floods recently.

It’s all up to Charles to figure out what’s going on in this crazy city and the game’s developer, Frogwares, previously developed the well-received Sherlock Holmes adventure games so it’s reasonable to expect tons of investigating and clue-finding in The Sinking City.

A preview we published in June sounded pretty impressed with the game (despite it having “average looking combat”) and described it as “L.A. Noire meets H.P. Lovecraft”.

“Whether on foot, by boat, or swimming through the depths, Charles can explore the derelict town and discover its many hidden secrets,” our preview noted. “Along the way, you can accept multiple cases and solve them in a variety of ways. Solving cases in a drowning city won’t be easy, however, as you’ll face off with horrific mutant creatures and deal with the hysteria consuming the city’s inhabitants.”

The Sinking City is scheduled to launch on March 21, 2019 for the PC, Xbox One & PS4.
