The Next Red Dead Game Certainly Looks Impressive
It took them a while but Rockstar has finally decided to publicly show off some Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay in a video that was uploaded on Thursday. While in-game footage has been shown before it has mostly been cutscenes or gameplay briefly shown from cinematic camera angles.
In the gameplay we see the game’s protagonist, Arthur Morgan, riding around & interacting with the various characters of the game world.
“With Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games aims to create a living world that’s not simply open but deeper, more interactive and detailed than ever,” the video’s narrator says. “Combining action, storytelling and gameplay in news ways as you live, ride, and fight to survive as an outlaw in a notorious gang.”
Set in 1899, RDR2 focuses on the exploits of Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang. Morgan will fight alongside several characters from the previous game such as Dutch Van der Linde and John Marston.
One of the new features of the sequel is having to take care of the gang’s outdoor camp by completing chores and making sure it has supplies. Players will also be able to interact with many of the gang’s members and can undertake sidequests that involve those characters, according to the video.
You can also speak with random NPCs that you’ll encounter out in the open-world, similar to how players could talk to NPCs in GTA V. Arthur Morgan can greet people, anger them, intimidate witnesses to his crimes, and even talk his way out of trouble with law enforcement.
Horses have changed a bit too. Your mount can form a bond with Arthur depending on how well you treat it but if that horse dies then you’ll have to start the process all over again with a new horse.
Arthur can also hunt animals in order to provide food for the camp or sell the meat & pelts to stores, the video’s narrator mentioned.
