Insomniac Wants Spider-Man To Be on the ‘Same Level’ as the Arkham Games

Spider-Man Is Launching on September 7th

Insomniac’s Spider-Man is only a few weeks away from being released and, according to its creative director Bryan Intihar, the developer wants Spidey’s new game to be on “the same level” as Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham games.

Inithar recently said that Insomniac has played the Arkham games and added that “many have asked us how we relate to the quality standard that they were able to set … they have redefined the quality of superhero-themed videogames and we want to be at the same level.”

This would be a tall order for Spider-Man to fill considering how well-received those Batman games were. The last entry of the series, Batman: Arkham Knight, came out in 2015 and was a critical & commercial success for Rocksteady.

Our hands-on preview of Spider-Man was pretty positive about it overall and described the game’s web-swinging as “glorious”.

“I mean it with the utmost praise when I say the fluidity nears a point of absurdity,” wrote the preview’s author. “Shooting webs and swinging through the city feels incredibly smooth, and Spidey reacts perfectly to your every move.”
