The Money Will Go to the Victims of the Recent Jacksonville Mass Shooting
EA officially announced on Wednesday that they’ve started a fund for the victims of Sunday’s shooting at a Madden tournament held in Jacksonville. The game publisher has named this fund “the Jacksonville Tribute.”
Separately, EA has also donated $1 million to those victims. When it comes to the fund itself, the contributions “will go to the victims, including the families of Taylor Robertson, Elijah Clayton, and all those who were affected.”
EA also said that they’ll be hosting a livestream for the Jacksonville Tribute on September 6th.
“We’ve heard from so many of you that you would like to support the victims, and to show that this horrific event will not define us, but only serve to make our community stronger,” part of their statement read. “We’re already working with may of you to make this happen through the livestream.”
More details about the livestream will be announced soon, EA said.
Sunday’s shooting resulted in three people getting fatally shot (including the gunman, who had committed suicide at the scene of the shooting) and 11 people getting injured. The motive behind the shooting is still being investigated by the authorities.
