Bungie Announces New Anthology Book Series Containing Destiny’s Lore
This may be surprising to hear, but the original Destiny was jam-packed with story elements– it just wasn’t in the actual game itself. Much of the game’s narrative is unlocked through Grimoire cards, rich and detailed bits of lore one can read either in the games’ codex or online. While most hardcore fans agree that the lore is interesting and pretty cool, the way Bungie chose to dole it out is somewhat questionable.
Bungie has now rectified this. Beginning this Fall, Bungie will release Destiny Grimoire Anthology Vol. 1: Dark Mirror, a new anthology of books containing Destiny’s complex lore in a more efficient digestible format.
Volume 1, which boasts a shiny and slick hardcover, is 128 pages long and will bring “tales from multiple sources together for the first time, casting new light on Destiny’s most legendary heroes, infamous villains, and their greatest moments of triumph and tragedy.”
According to the book’s official description, each volume will “illuminate a facet of the world” and will offer “new and differing perspectives on the cosmic war that rages between the Traveler and its ancient enemies.” Bungie claims that the compendium is “designed and assembled for Destiny’s devoted and enlightened scholars and lore lovers.”
Destiny Grimoire Anthology Vol. 1: Dark Mirror will cost $24.99 USD and will include a code for an exclusive in-game Destiny 2 emblem called “Codex Doctrinae.” A concrete date hasn’t been announced yet other than Fall 2018. Pre-orders are available now on Bungie’s official store. The book will also be published in other languages at a later time.
