Octopath Traveler Gets Restocked in Japan, Only to Sell out in Mere Hours
Just last week we told you how Octopath Traveler is taking the industry by storm, selling out almost immediately after its release on July 13th. After Square Enix apologized for the stock shortages, the game was restocked in Japan over the weekend, only to sell out again, this time within three short hours across the country.
Following the stock shortage last week, Square Enix not only apologized for the inconvenience, but requested that fans bear with them, advising them to purchase the downloadable version of Octopath Traveler instead. Despite this, it seems gamers in Japan are eager to have a physical copy of the game, and when retailer Yodabashi Camera was fully stocked again this weekend, the gloves were off and the game was sold out within three hours. Needless to say, Octopath Traveler is absolutely dominating right now.
As you might imagine, especially considering this is the second time there’s been a shortage of stock in as many weeks, Square Enix has again issued an apology. Based on a translation of their post on Twitter, here’s what it reads, “Sorry for the scarce situation. We will continue to ship the product in full order to deliver a sufficient number, but the most recent shipments are expected to become a fairly small number yet. I am very sorry to have kept you waiting. I hope you will consider the download version if you like.”
Want to know a bit more about Octopath Traveler? You can check out the following description: “Eight travelers. Eight adventures. Eight roles to play in a new world brought to life by Square Enix. Explore each traveler’s story and use their abilities in and out of battle. Will you expand your horizons as the Merchant or track down a traitor as the Warrior? Where will you go? Who will join you? You alone can choose your path.”
Octopath Traveler is available now, though maybe only digitally, for Nintendo Switch. And if you’re deciding to pick the game up for yourself, you can check out our review here.
