Just a Glance at Cyberpunk 2077’s RPG Mechanics
News on Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED’s next IP inspired by the pen and paper RPG, has remained scarce but sweet. While we haven’t been given full details on the game’s progression system, the team revealed their take on skills and leveling up.
Revealed over on Twitter, it seems Cyberpunk 2077‘s progression system will involve attributes that can be leveled up through implants and traditional means. Additionally, characters will have skills, and players will be able to level these up by repeatedly putting them to use. In other words, the game’s leveling mechanics will be similar to what we’ve seen in Bethesda RPGs like Fallout 3 and Skyrim. This would explain the headshot mechanics that devs talked about earlier this month.
We have Attributes like STR, REF etc. which can be raised by leveling up and Installing body cyberware; Skills, raised by successfully performing actions (Hacking, Crafting, Short Guns, Long Guns etc.); Perks unlocked with both Street Cred and XP.

CD Projekt RED also touched on the localization of Cyberpunk 2077, confirming the availability of Hungarian, Czech, and Arabic subtitles. However, the available languages have not been finalized, and there may be more when the game finally arrives.
Speaking of when the game will finally arrive, the Polish developer has promised more reveals as we near release. That said, no release window has been given. Expect sprinkles of new information over the course of the year, including at this year’s Gamescom.
Happy gaming.
