You Can Now Play as Quiet in Metal Gear Solid V

Fitting Since the Update Was Kept Rather Hush-Hush

Metal Gear Solid V is receiving a new update after nearly a year of download silence. The update in question, believe it or not, lets you play as Quiet. Yes, I’m talking about the silent operative who enters combat in nylons. For some, she’s the best companion in the game, and now you’ll get all the perks that come with playing as her.

It’s worth noting that Quiet is not just a skin; she really is a playable character now. Her seemingly skimpy exposure has been a subject of contention amongst critics, but Kojima made it make sense: she survives via photosynthesis. It is for that reason (I assume) you can’t change her uniform or headgear. If you’ve always wanted to play as Quiet and be the masterclass sniper, now you can. She comes with the abilities we’ve seen in the game, including the ability to move fast and hop to high places. Also, she has a dash; but if you sit still, she becomes stealthy.

Furthermore, Metal Gear Solid V’s update 1,17 adds new difficulties to event FOBs. Alongside the options to select easy and hard difficulties, an armory of new weapons is making its way into Motherbase. The download is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. If you haven’t already done so, check out our review of the original experience.

As someone who’s long sought to play as Quiet, this update has me yearning to dive back into Metal Gear Solid V. Of course, I would’ve appreciated the update a lot sooner, but it still managed to get me back in. Do you think this Quiet update came too little too late?
