Fans Have Been Waiting a While for a Sequel
Though Remedy Entertainment is currently busy developing their upcoming third-person shooter Control (which is releasing in 2019), they haven’t forgotten about one of their older IPs: Alan Wake. During an interview, a Remedy director said that the developer would like to create a new game in the series.
“So we own the Alan Wake IP, yes. I just want to say right away that it’s very dear to us and close to our hearts,” said Mikael Kasurinen, the game director of Control. “We all love Alan Wake at Remedy and I think all of us want to see a new Alan Wake game.” Kasurinen added that Remedy will “see what happens” with the sequel.
Alan Wake, a Twin Peaks-inspired mystery game about a novelist searching for his missing wife, came out back in 2010 and ended on a cliffhanger that left the story open for a sequel. A DLC spinoff game came out two years later in 2012 but it wasn’t the full-fledged sequel that fans were hoping for.
Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for a sequel but it’s been eight years and with Quantum Break and Control as new IPs, it could be a while until Remedy decides to start development on a new Alan Wake.
