Nintendo Explains Why Metroid Prime 4 Wasn’t Shown at E3 2018

The Next Metroid Game Will Be Shown When It’s Ready, Says Nintendo

If you’re a Super Smash Bros. enthusiast then Nintendo’s E3 conference was probably an absolute blast for you. However, if you’re not, then you were probably wondering when Metroid Prime 4 was going to be shown during the conference.

Well, according to Nintendo, the game wasn’t shown simply because it just wasn’t ready to be shown.

Metroid Prime 4 Rumors

“We believe it is not fair to the fan to repeatedly tease them over time about a game,” said Nintendo COO Reggie Fils-Aime to Polygon in an interview. “That’s why we tend to focus close in, typically in a six- to nine-month timeframe, and go deep in sharing content and information on a particular piece of content.”

Fils-Aime also confirmed to Polygon that Metroid Prime 4 was still in development but also won’t be launching this year.

Obviously, this is disappointing news for Metroid fans because its been a while since a good original Metroid title came out. While there was a well-received 2017 remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus, the last original entries of the series were 2010’s Metroid: Other M and 2016’s Metroid Prime: Federation Force and we all know how poorly those games turned out to be.

Hopefully Metroid Prime 4 is a return to form for everyone’s favorite space bounty hunter!
