Officially Licensed Gamecube Controllers Coming to Switch

The Prodigal Son Returns

Looks like everyone’s favorite Gamecube controller is making its way to the Nintendo Switch just in time for this year’s Super Smash Bros.

According to Reddit user Mew_The_Creator, the packages were sent to the facility where he works for the purpose of setting up product layout for stores, “so the actual controllers aren’t in there, but the product is confirmed.”

A series of special edition Wii U Pro Controllers are in the works as well. So far they’re all Super Mario themed, as you can see by the designs and the enormous “Super Mario” logo at the bottom of the front of the box, which paves the way for theories that controller designs based on other franchises in the future (most likely those related to characters from Smash Bros, with Zelda being a no-brainer). All of the controllers you see here are designed and manufactured by third-party accessory company PowerA.

No release date has been set for the Gamecube controllers or the specially designed Wii U Pro Controllers, but it’s safe to assume they’ll coincide nicely with the launch of Super Smash Bros. for Switch to get those sweet, sweet attach rates.
