Officially Licensed Gamecube Controllers Coming to Switch

The Prodigal Son Returns

Looks like everyoneโ€™s favorite Gamecube controller is making its way to the Nintendo Switch just in time for this yearโ€™s Super Smash Bros.

According to Reddit user Mew_The_Creator, the packages were sent to the facility where he works for the purpose of setting up product layout for stores, โ€œso the actual controllers arenโ€™t in there, but the product is confirmed.โ€

A series of special edition Wii U Pro Controllers are in the works as well. So far theyโ€™re all Super Mario themed, as you can see by the designs and the enormous โ€œSuper Marioโ€ logo at the bottom of the front of the box, which paves the way for theories that controller designs based on other franchises in the future (most likely those related to characters from Smash Bros, with Zelda being a no-brainer). All of the controllers you see here are designed and manufactured by third-party accessory company PowerA.

No release date has been set for the Gamecube controllers or the specially designed Wii U Pro Controllers, but itโ€™s safe to assume theyโ€™ll coincide nicely with the launch of Super Smash Bros. for Switch to get those sweet, sweet attach rates.
