Overwatch Anniversary Event Officially Announced

Let’s Get This Party Started

Following a leak earlier this week, Blizzard has officially announced the launch date and details of Overwatch’s two-year anniversary event.

As reported the other day by our own Louis Stowe, the Anniversary Event for everyone’s favorite class-based shooter will begin on May 22nd (one week from tomorrow) and conclude on June 11th. Items, brawls, and skins from past seasons are indeed returning, alongside 50 new cosmetic items and a new Deathmatch map, Petra. So far, the only new skin that’s been revealed is Pirate Junkrat.

Pirate Junkrat got moves in the new Overwatch event.

The new cosmetics include three epic skins, eight legendary skins, and fresh new dance moves for Doomfist, Moira, and Brigitte, having not been around for last year’s party. In regards to returning brawls, yes, Lucioball is included, as well as Overwatch Archives Uprising and Retribution PVE brawls. On top the new Deathmatch map, players will be invited to test their skill in a new competitive mode, which includes its own ranking, competitive points and leaderboards.

Blizzard will be hosting a free weekend of Overwatch on PC, Xbox, and Playstation from May 25th to May 27th. Playstation users won’t be required to have a Plus account to participate. Also, a new version of the title will release alongside the event, called the “Legendary Edition.” It will include 15 skins of Legendary and Epic rarities, as well as the exclusive skins from the Origins edition.
