Fans May Have Just Discovered the Mysterious Setting for Death Stranding

Has the Death Stranding Setting Just Been Uncovered?

Just last week Hideo Kojima teased a Death Stranding trailer for E3 2018 and while that caused a stir in and of itself, it sure wasn’t the last thing he’d post about the mysterious title. Just a few days ago he posted a picture on Twitter that has sent fans into a tizzy. In fact, this picture may have just unlocked another secret about the game: it’s setting.

Recently Kojima tweeted a picture of some in-game moss from the highly anticipated title, and Twitter user Rafael Andrade pointed out that the picture showcasing the Decima engine graphics resembled a place in the real world. So where is Death Stranding going to take place? It seems that it will take place in Iceland. Apparently the moss-covered field looks awfully similar to the lava fields in Iceland. You can check out the tweet comparing the two below.

While the comparison definitely encouraged a ton of speculation, the theory seemed to gain a bit more traction when Hideo Kojima himself retweeted Andrade’s comparison. After this, the theory seemed to pick up even more steam, as another Twitter user, Blue Harvey, made another comparison between a crater in-game and in Iceland. Of course, craters can be found around the world, but this second comparison seems to point even more to Death Stranding taking place in Iceland. You can check out this other comparison below.

Of course, even though Kojima retweeted one of the comparisons, it still has yet to be confirmed. For all we know, Kojima just wants more people talking about the game causing mass confusion amongst the industry leading up to E3. With that said, hopefully we’ll receive confirmation about Death Stranding’s setting in just over two weeks at E3 2018.

Do you believe the setting for the mysterious title could be Iceland? Let us know in the comments below and don’t forget to keep it locked for updates!
