Quantic Dream’s Latest Game Has Been Selling Well So Far
Detroit: Become Human, a narrative-driven adventure game about three androids in a futuristic Detroit, topped the UK sales chart after its debut last week.
Our review of Quantic Dream’s latest game was mostly positive but still took some issues with how the game handled some of its themes.
“Quantic Dream excels in bringing the entire world of Detroit: Become Human to life,” our reviewer wrote. “That’s not to say it doesn’t have some hiccups along the way, some of which will leave you questioning the decisions of the developers. It would have been nice to see a bit more depth on display for the mature themes of the game, however, what’s even more important is how the story remains fairly consistent throughout.”
Another recently released game also seems to be having pretty solid post-debut sales: State of Decay 2, an open-world zombie game, took the second spot on the sales chart.
Unfortunately, we didn’t like it nearly as much as Detroit: Become Human. Our review described it as “unbelievably janky” and criticized it for being pretty buggy.
“The point is this: although there’s a very competent core loop and entertaining resource management sim somewhere within State of Decay 2, it’s really, really, broken,” our reviewer concluded. “Unacceptably so. It frustrated me mightily to see a flash of a game I wanted to play, only to be immediately reminded that it’s not ready for release.”
Here’s the entire top 10 for this week’s sales chart:
- Detroit: Become Human
- State of Decay 2
- Dark Souls Remastered
- FIFA 18
- God of War
- Far Cry 5
- Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition
- Destiny 2
- Fallout 4
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
