Apparently It Was ‘A F***ing Nightmare’
There are an incredible amount of people who have to come together to make a AAA game happen. Even something as simple as a promotional video needs a team of dedicated professionals working together to make everything look perfect. Apparently this can be a pretty stressful experience, according to one Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite player.
During a recent Twitch stream, competitive player Jonathan Parkes had some incendiary remarks about working with Marvel on the most recent MvC release. “I helped make those videos, and working with Marvel is a fucking nightmare.” It seems like the comics giant had some incredibly specific ideas about which characters should be used and how the battles should turn out. Apparently it would have looked bad to have Capcom characters kicking the crap out of Marvel characters, so the promo videos couldn’t include that.
Parkes mentioned one of the specific pairings that Marvel was looking for, that of Ryu and the Hulk. Honestly, it’s sort of confusing. I’m pretty sure Hulk could kick the crap out of more or less any Capcom fighter under the sun. It’s not any more plausible or satisfying to see Ryu get beat into a fine paste. Also, these requirements that Marvel handed down sound pretty standard for a huge, faceless empire with a brand to maintain. They can probably relax, though. I’m sure their fictional roster of fighters could wipe the floor with Capcom’s fictional roster of fighters in a brawl.
