Hyperkin SupaRetroN HD Coming to UK and Europe

Hyperkin SupaRetroN HD Gives SNES Fans Yet Another Way to Experience the Classics

Although the SNES Classic is still has been difficult to get despite an increase in production, it’s not the only way to relive the system’s golden years. While the Hyperkin SupaRetroN HD isn’t the same kind of hardware, it offers fans an alternate opportunity to play SNES games.

It’s already available in the United States, but come March 9 SNES fans in the United Kingdom and Europe can also play their favorite old-school games.

Here are its features:

• Plays both SNES and SFC Cartridges

• HD Audio and Video: Crisp 720p

• Two premium controllers – The Scout – with 8ft cables

• Pin Perfect™ high-quality pins your cartridges deserve

• Cartridge Eject Button allows you to swap games quickly and easily

• HD Output and AV Output

• Supports 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios

• 6ft micro-USB charge cable

It’s not the first of its kind – the Super Nt has received a lot of positive attention for its high-end replication of the SNES console. And like the SupaRetroN, it isn’t an emulator – it provides players the ability to play SNES games on HD hardware.

That’s not to say that the SNES Classic isn’t a great product – it is. But it raises the question of where its games will go outside of the “Virtual Console.” After all, many of us have already re-experienced the games of the Nintendo 3DS.

The official description of the Hyperkin SupaRetroN HD is as follows:

“Aw snap! The 90s are back with the raddest console to hit your crib. The SupaRetroN HD is 16 bits of high definition nostalgia, letting you play your SNES (NTSC and PAL) or Super Famicom cartridges in crisp and vibrant 720p HD. It includes TWO premium classic-style controllers, a 3 ft. HD cable (supports 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio), and a 6 ft. Micro USB charge cable. You can even play via AV with the provided AV cable. There’s no doubt the SupaRetroN HD is a proper celebration of the past and future of retro video games. Dust off those carts and get to work! ”
